Guth has a B.A., M.A. and a doctorate in physics from Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). As of 2013, Guth was a professor of physics at MIT having written about 60 technical papers regarding the effects of inflation and its interactions with particle physics. Guth has also been the recipient of several awards and medals, including the Medal of the International Center for Theoretical Physics, the Eddington Medal in 1996, and the 2009 Isaac Newton Medal.
