Venus is the second planet from the Sun. Venus is a terrestrial planet, is similar in size and gravity to the Earth. However, it is very different from Earth in many respects: Its atmosphere (which is about 96% carbon dioxide) is much more dense than that of Earth, its atmospheric surface pressure is 92 times that of Earth’s and its surface temperature of is about 462 °C (863 °F). It is, by far, the hottest planet in our Solar System.
