In this massacre, two Chinese cargo ships on the Mekong River were attacked by a drug trafficking gang led by Sai Naw Kham. All 13 crew members were killed and dumped in the river. Kham and three subordinates were subsequently arrested, extradited to China and given a death sentence which was carried out in 2013.
