Zechariah, whose name means “Yahweh has remembered”, is the author of the Book of Zechariah in the Old Testament. He was a prophet of the two-tribe kingdom of Judah who began prophesying in the second year of Darius, king of Persia (B.C. 520), which was about sixteen years after Jewish exiles to Babylon had first returned to Jerusalem.
